Eugene Ely

Eugene Ely (pictured below) took off his plane type of deck USS Curtis Birmingham November 14, 1910 year. It was the first flying machine, which broke away from the deck of a ship of war, which also made the above. U.S. Navy cruiser was the first in the history of an aircraft carrier. "Curtis defeated the 2 mile, then landed safely on the beach at Willoughby Spit.

The success of this project was so large that it was decided to continue the experiment. This time the plane had landed on the ship. At the controls of the same aircraft, 18 January 1911, Eugene Ely landed aboard the USS Pennsylvania, which once again enrolled in the annals of history.
